CranioSacral Therapy

Nervous System Restoration & Deep Healing

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment that works with the body’s central nervous system to release deep patterns of tension, restore balance, and support whole-body healing.

Developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger through extensive clinical research, this approach is rooted in the understanding that the brain and spinal cord play a central role in regulating every function of the body.

Using a light touch — often no more than the weight of a nickel — practitioners work with the soft tissues, membranes, and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This system, known as the craniosacral system, directly influences the health and function of the entire body.

How CranioSacral Therapy Works

The body is constantly adapting to stress, whether physical, emotional, or environmental. Over time, these stress patterns can create restrictions within the tissues, particularly around the central nervous system.

These restrictions may affect the natural rhythm and flow of cerebrospinal fluid — the fluid that nourishes and protects the brain and spinal cord — leading to tension, discomfort, and dysfunction throughout the body.

Through gentle, precise touch, the practitioner evaluates the body’s subtle rhythms and areas of restriction. By releasing these patterns,

CranioSacral Therapy helps to:

• Restore balance within the nervous system
• Improve communication between the brain and body
• Support the body’s natural ability to self-correct and heal
• Reduce the cumulative effects of stress and tension

As the system begins to normalize, the body often shifts into a deeply relaxed, restorative state — allowing healing to occur at a foundational level.

Conditions Supported by CranioSacral Therapy

CST is widely used as both a therapeutic and preventative approach, supporting a broad range of conditions related to the nervous system and overall health.

• Concussion and traumatic brain injury
• Migraines and chronic headaches
• Neck and back pain
• TMJ dysfunction
• Stress and tension-related disorders
• Anxiety and post-traumatic stress
• Chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia
• Nervous system dysregulation
• Scoliosis and structural imbalances
• Learning and developmental challenges (ADD/ADHD)
• Motor coordination and neurological conditions
• Infant and pediatric support
• Orthopedic and sports-related injuries

A Deeply Restorative Experience

CranioSacral Therapy is not forceful — it is profoundly subtle. Yet within that subtlety lies its power.

By creating space within the tissues and restoring fluid movement around the brain and spinal cord, this work supports a state of deep regulation, clarity, and internal balance.

Many patients experience a sense of stillness, emotional release, and nervous system reset — often leaving with improved sleep, reduced pain, and a greater sense of ease in both body and mind.

Your Healing Process

Each individual responds uniquely to CranioSacral Therapy. Some experience noticeable shifts after a single session, while others benefit from a series of treatments to support deeper or more chronic conditions.

Your care plan is always tailored to your body, your history, and your goals — honoring the pace at which your system is ready to heal and integrate.
